Sir Mark Prescott’s stable star Marsha has been given the go-ahead by owners Elite Racing Club to contest in the Breeders’ Cup Turf Sprint in the picturesque Del Mar racecourse.

MARSHA PICTURED WINNING AT DUNDALK

The speedster has excelled this year most noteworthily after she defeated Lady Aurelia, with whom she is likely to renew rivalry in America, by a nose in the Nunthorpe Stakes at York.

The four-year-old Marsha was last spotted when finishing runner-up to Battaash in the Prix de l’Abbaye at Chantilly and was anticipated to go straight to the December Mare Sale though her owners Elite Racing Club have now confirmed they will take their chance in the American showpiece contest for sprinters.

Elite Racing manager Dan Downie recently told Press Association Sport: “The plan is to head to America,”, “It was always an option after York given that was a win-and-you’re-in race.

“It’s a complete unknown but we’ve got nothing to lose.

“It’s all a bit last minute so I’m not sure how many of the syndicate will be going out, but we do have members in America so I’m sure they’ll try and get across.”
