We recently had the privilege of an exclusive interview with rising weighing room star Evan Daly, who is presently based with trainer Joseph O’Brien.

How did you get into racing?

Started hunting when I was 8/9 and started pony racing from there which led to what I am doing at the moment

Most memorable racing moment?

Probably seeing Kauto star win his final king George. It was unreal to see him come back again

Aims for the future?

Just to ride as many winners as possible and maybe in a couple of years start setting targets

Give us a horse to follow?

Thermistocles, he ran cracker on his latest start and seems to be an improver

Give us a trainer to watch out for?

Richard O’Brien, he mainly trains on the flat but he seems to win with everything he gets so I can see him getting bigger in a short space of time

Advice for younger jockeys?

Don’t really have any advice only to keep the head down as I’m too young to give advice to anyone

Favourite track?

It would probably be Fairyhouse because it’s a proper big galloping track and I had my first winner there

Most memorable victory so far for you?

It would have to be my first flat winner of Roibeard at Fairyhouse for Ger Lyons

Away from racing, how do you unwind?

I’d usually try and go at something with the lads and play a bit of hurling
