“Parkers Hill is one for your notebook going forward”

Parkers Hill was once rated in the 80’s having won a Leopardstown maiden as a juvenile and was bridging a winless disparity of over 18 months when successful over a mile here last time out at Dundalk Stadium. The son of No Nay Never ran off a lenient mark of 68 when he won on his previous start and purposefully fought right to the line; displaying some good attributes which he hadn’t been showing in the past. He unexpectedly was declared for a claiming race on Friday evening at Dundalk now running of a mark of 74, he finished a credible second behind the James McAuley trained Tony The Gent.

Finishing runner up to that horse is no bad-run - McAuley’s horse was well overdue a success and was drawn to attack in this contest; in my opinion Parkers Hill he was in-front to long, he isn’t a front-runner however he is a prominent racer, so I will would draw line through that loss and recommend he is still well enough treated to win another race in a handicap before too long. There is a big pot in him down the line.

What is a claiming race? A claiming race is a race in which every horse running can be “claimed” or purchased after the race. It is open to current owners, new owners or those getting back in the sport. It is a simple, quick and easy way to purchase a racehorse that is inclined to run straight away.

Parkers Hill has been on my radar for a while and has always seemed to me as a horse who could strive in a more one-to-won regime, which he will now get in Breen’s County Down stables - no disrespect to Murtagh whatsoever.

I’d say the best of Parkers Hill is yet to come.

He is a proper Saturday horse in the making. Who ever said there was no value to be had in claiming races? Keep your eye out for Parkers Hill during the summer months.
