The 3.05 Apprentice handicap at Tipperary on Tuesday afternoon is a punting contest which is not for the weak of heart.

There is countless challengers in here who are well-intentioned of playing a leading role, including Stellify , Angel’s Trumpet and Power Of Lazarus; they all bring a solid enough level of form to this charming race without getting overly animated about their chances nevertheless I don’t think they rate any value at their present-day price, there is a superior candidate lurking in the field who shouldn’t be out of the frame if her last run is anything to go by she looks a good thing.

The Tom McCourt trained Sweet Justice is a thought-provoking participant, this daughter of Law Man really caught my eye last time out when finishing a commendable 4th place – given she undoubtedly went with the wrong group up the inside - the outer cluster of runners finished a distinguishable bit in front, so that 4th place finish obtained by Sweet Justice was a great run and much better than the bare form recommends.

Tom McCourt has his team in fine fettle, the County Meath trainer is a shrewd handler and his runners steeping up in trip after running well last time out constantly need reverence in races of this calibre – these apprentice handicaps are competitive but now and then they prevail a very winnable opportunity for horses clearly above their modest marks.
