Exclusive Interview with top irish jockey Robbie Dunne who is based in the UK.

Tell us about your self and your achievements?

32 years old now been based in the Uk for 7 years now I’ve ridden the Scottish grand national winner & eider chase aswell as the Warwick classic, grand national trail. 

How did you get involved in racing?

I didn’t sit on a racehorse till I was 14 with my uncle who trained a few horses & pointer to pointers at 15 I left school and went to R.A.C.E where I joined Dermot Weld’s yard for 2 years. 

How do you feel Ireland racecourses need to improve?

As I’m based in the uk I’m not in Ireland enough to say, but one thing I’d say is the food in the weighrooms in Ireland needs looking at we are treated so much better in uk I personally can’t understand how the lads put up with it!! 

Have you ever experienced internet trolls?

I think everyone riding as suffered at some point but you can’t take notice of these sort of people.

If you couldn’t be have been a jockey which job would you like to do?

 None I’m lucky to work at a job I love 

How do you keep fit?

 Running & playing a bit of football 

What us your biggest aims? 

Win the grand national I’ve had 2 attempts at it 3rd & 5th, also try add the Welsh & Irish nationals.
