Exclusive weekly blog from Co. Armagh based trainer Adrian McAllister.

We Started the week off by heading to Goffs sales on Tuesday. We are trying to purchase a couple of horses that are already in training with the view to setting up a syndicate or sole ownership for any interested parties as we will have free stables available soon.

Unfortunately, we have had a very tough week on the racing front. On Wednesday we ran Elzaa in the Mares Hurdle at Fairyhouse. She jumped fantastically and travelled very well throughout the race until three out. She clipped heels when another horse came in on top of her and left her jockey Adam Short no chance to stay on. After the race Adam said he had plenty left in the tank and she runs again on Wednesday in the Mares Maiden at Fairyhouse. Here’s hoping for a bit of luck this time around.

On Friday night we ran two horses at Dundalk. Willwams ran very well from the front. He was carrying 10s 5lb which is a lot of weight for Dundalk. Denis Linehan said he got a great feel from him and showed plenty of pace, hopefully with a lighter weight he should be ok. Bien Chase on the other hand had no luck, he broke well and got a great position and travelled well to the bend and that’s where it all went wrong. He got pushed wide going around the bend and when Sean Corby got him going he got stopped in his tracks when it got crowded coming up the straight. He was travelling well up to this point but unfortunately that was his race over.

We are bitterly disappointed as we felt he could have been placed but on the bright side everybody came home safe and sound and we will be back to fight another day
