We recently had the privilege of an exclusive interview with promising 23-year-old, Co. Clare flat Jockey Dylan Hogan.

Tell us about yourself?

I’ve been riding for the past 5 years and its only really last year I’ve started to get going and seem to be getting on better horses. Last year I had 15 winners and hopefully I can surpass this year.

Favourite racing moment?

My favourite memory would have to be my first winner as it was for the boss (Kevin Prendergast) who has giving me a lot of support since I started riding.

Favourite Jockey?

To be honest I don’t have a favourite jockey because there are lot of good riders in Ireland I couldn’t just mention one all the older lads are very good to get advice of about your riding and willing to help you out.

Plans for the future?

My plan for the future is just to get my name out there and ride as many winners as possible. If the champion apprentice was up for grabs in august or September, then I’d like to give it a go.

Horses to follow?

There is a nice few horses to look out for this year like algebra and moghamarah from the boss Kevin Prendergasts hopefully the can go to be listed/group fillies and a horse I won a couple on last year not a bad oul day he’s at a career high mark so hopefully he could improve a little bit more for this year..

Hobbies outside racing?

I like to play a bit of handball and hurling., also I play a bit of soccer during the week with a few of the other apprentices and it’s a bit of crack keeps you a little bit fit over the winter.
