irishracing.com | News - Sceptical looks smart prospect for Hogan

Article by Darren O’Conghaile

All the team at Hilltopracing.com are extremely excited about how their stable-star Sceptical has progressed thus far for their elected trainer Denis Hogan. Sceptical is a son of Exceed And Excel out of Queen Mary Stakes winner Jealous Again, he was bought for trivial money (£2,500) at The Doncaster sales last August by the team at Hilltop Racing Stables.

We spoke with the one of the owners, James McAuley about this cheap acquisition who keeps on exceeding everyone’s expectations; He added; “We all knew he was above average from the onset although we never dreamt, he could be this good. There is plenty of lows which come about with racehorse ownership but then having a horse like Sceptical running in our orange silks, is something else altogether”.

McAuley then added; “Sceptical has done everything asked of him on track and in his homework at Hogan’s - unquestionably he is much better than an above-average handicapper and he will try his luck in Group races throughout the summer months”.

Is Sceptical the best your team have ever had in-training? McAuley quickly replied; “We can’t get over his electric turn of speed when asked to quicken and we all have confidence that he is still open to much more progress - Sceptical will surprise a few doubters this summer in Group races”.

“We believe he is our ticket to all the big festivals this summer”.
