The Galway festival is a very tricky place to get a winner for so many reasons; for lots of horses it brings out the best in them, others just don’t go a yard on it; some horses may catch the eye and advocate next time out they would be worth a good punt.

The team 3furlongsout.com have complied a list of four horses worth putting in your shrewd notebooks ; they have showed adequate promise at this unique Ballybrit track to suggest their winning turn is nearing.

1 Trading Point; This Damian English horse contested in the big premier mile handicap and exceed all market expectations - finishing much better than his bare 9th place finishing position suggested. He attempted to make all the running; perhaps his early hysterical fractions encumbered his winning chances nevertheless he ran well enough to suggest there will be other days in him. Lovely horse who is obviously capable of popping up in a big handicap in the forthcoming future.

2 Neverushacon; Not the force of old – but then again who is? This Jessica Harrington trained horse ran twice at the Galway festival; the first outing he endeavoured to make all the running and didn’t have the legs for it – in-play layers had him at 1/2 to win the race three furlongs from home though that never looked likely; he finished a fairly encouraging 5^th place. His second outing of the week was on the Saturday; he was ridden with much more restraint and seemingly that suited him better; he came home in the final few furlongs with a real flourish to finish a never nearer 4^th place but plenty to like about that run. I would fancy him to win a handicap over hurdles before the summer is over.

3 Cyrus Dallin; This Denis Hogan trained horse ran twice at the festival at Ballybrit; He finished 8^th and creditable 4^th places during the week – both runs the races wasn’t run to suit him nevertheless this son of Roderic O’Connor kept on signifying he may be coming to the boil. He is a former winner at Laytown last year and I’d say connections have one eye in getting him sweetened up to run well again this year at that coastal venue again; sure, everybody wants a winner by the sea.

4 War Diary; Not the most obvious of eye-catchers though this John Joseph Murphy ran a really solid race to finish 4^th place from off the pace in a competitive handicap on the Friday at Ballybrit; He was ridden with plenty of restraint and never looked like landing a blow though when the gaps finally opened he ran on with real purpose. He should be winning a race very shortly for Astute trainer Murphy.
